.UPDATE. You can now use the X-Rite Colour Checker software to create ICC profiles. I have done a minor comparison and Lumariver still does a better job.
- Digital ColorChecker SG with Generic EOS R5 Camera Profile For the sake of this process, note that I used the White Balance picker tool in Capture One Pro and selected one of the neutral gray cells on the target, and that set the custom white balance of the image to 5757 Kelvin and a Tint of -2.8.
- Passport Photo 2 now combines four photographic targets, featuring a new 18% Gray Balance target, plus upgraded ColorChecker Camera Calibration software that adds ICC camera profile creation, especially useful for Capture One users, or anyone working in an ICC compatible workflow.

The ColorChecker Passport is an ideal tool for photographers working in a variety of shooting conditions and workflows. Passport is great for medium format and DSLR shooting in both RAW and JEPG workflows.
The Passport hardware includes three targets for white balancing and color correction, identifying and correcting image clipping, and creatively warming and cooling images. These targets come packaged together in a rugged case that doubles as a stand, so you can safely transport your targets and place them exactly where you need them in your shots. The durability and portability of the Passport makes it a photographer’s dream come true!
The importance of capturing accurate color is a given. The Passport includes two targets to help you do just that. The ColorChecker White Balance provides a spectrally neutral white reference in a size that can be used for in-camera white balance and is an outstanding reference for pre or post shoot editing. Passport also includes the industry standard 24-patch ColorChecker Classic for visual reference; providing the same quality tool photographers have relied on for years. This is the same ColorChecker target we used shooting film just in a smaller size.
A unique and exciting aspect of ColorChecker Passport is the ability to creatively adjust white balance. The patches on the Creative Enhancement target allow you to warm and cool your images with just the click of an eyedropper, resulting in consistent, repeatable edits.
In addition, Passport includes software that allows you to produce DNG camera profiles. Adobe applications like Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw support custom DNG profiles. Other programs such as Hasselblad’s Phocus, Phase One’s Capture One and Leaf Capture use ICC profiles. And while these DNG profiles are not recognized by software programs that use ICC profiles, DNG profiling is only one aspect of this X-Rite package. Passport does MUCH more to help you capture accurate color and incorporate your creative touches. We’ve been using the 24-patch ColorChecker Classic in medium and large format workflows since film days!
Thanks to ColorChecker Passport, the days of time-consuming manual adjustment are gone. Adding the ColorChecker Passport insures color consistency and faster, more accurate editing in your studio. DSLR or Medium the ColorChecker Passport gives you the tools you need for great color in your digital photography.
