Learn how to view free space and free up storage on the Samsung Galaxy J7.
To use it, open the My Files app from Samsung and tap on Analyze storage. Wait for the system to analyze the storage. Scroll down, and you shall find various files that can be removed.
- 3 Tap on Smart manager icon. 4 Tap on Storage option. 5 Tap on Delete to delete unnecessary data such as cached, residual and advertisement files to free up more storage space. 6 It will start Cleaning the device storage by deleting the unnecessary data.
- If you're running Android 6.0 Marshmallow on your device, like my Huawei Android 6.0, simply click on Files and then Clean up. This only can clear your app's cache, your app residual trash, unused app packages will also be detected and, on the advanced management of storage, you can check all your data usage exhaustively, and select certain contents to clean up.

Adjust storage settings
Messaging
Set text and multimedia message limits to delete messages automatically. The default is 200 text and 20 picture messages. You may use this setting to start with, and decrease it if you continue to have problems.
- From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
- Tap the More or Menu icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap More settings.
- Tap Delete old messages.
- Slide the Delete old messages Switch right to the ON position.
Gmail
Change Gmail synchronization setting to every three days
- From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Gmail.
- Tap the Menu key and then tap Settings.
- Tap your email address.
- Tap Days of mail to sync.
- Swipe down until 3 is selected.
- Tap OK.
Clear storage regularly
It must be over 150 MB for your device. The Android system cannot work properly if the internal device storage is below 150 MB. If under 150 MB, use the following tips to clear more storage:
- Delete unnecessary text messages (SMS) and picture messages (MMS)
- Transfer pictures and media to a computer to remove them from the phone memory
- Clear the browser cache, cookies, or history
- Clear Facebook app cache
- Manage applications. See section below
- Delete the call logs

- From any Home screen, tap the App tray.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Tap the desired application in the default list or tap Menu icon > Show system apps to display preinstalled apps.
- Tap Uninstall and then tap OK.
Android 6.0
- From any Home screen, tap the App tray.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Applications then tap Application manager.
- Tap the desired application in the default list or tap MORE > Show system apps to display preinstalled apps.
- Tap Uninstall and then tap OK.
View free storage space
Android 7.1
- From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Settings > Device maintenance.
- Tap Storage.
- View the Available space value.
Android 6.0
Cached
- From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Storage.
- View the Available space value.
