So I resurrected the old development environment. Now I've got two MSP-FETs one V2 and one V3. It would be nice to have a download on the wiki for V2 firmware (including the update tool binary) similar to the MSP430-Flasher. I hope I was the last one who tried to do this but I'm afraid I'm not. Else the COM port which has the FET attached will install using a generic serial port driver, which CCS does not recognize as FET, at leasts that's what I've experienced before using a launchpad. If your device manager under 'Ports (COM & LPT)' does not show a 'MSP Debug Interface (COMx)' but a generic (USB) serial port, you need to uninstall. This MSP LSD-FET430UIF is a powerful flash emulation tool to get started with application development quickly on the MSP430 MCU. It includes USB debugging interface used to program & debug the MSP430 in-system via the JTAG interface or the pin saving Spy Bi-Wire (2-wire JTAG) protocol. Now to address your concerns regarding the FET-Pro430 Elprotronic software compatibility with the MSP-FET. The FET-Pro430 Elprotronic software is compatible with the MSP-FET and I was just able to confirm that on my end by loading and reading a program to and from an MSP430 MCU.

Changes in this Release

  • Update to InstallBuilder version 19.4.1 to support macOS 64-bit installers.

Known limitations

  • Erase Segment is not support on Linux.
  • MSP430F2xx and MSP430F4xx devices have twisted RAM and RAM2 entries.
